Present

In no way shall these words numb what is past
Nor sanitize a future that might be,
My Present, yet, not meant to stick or last,
Seems key to what I feel tonight, and flee.

Outrun have I my past in many ways,
And bypassed quickly any need for change.
Although, this Present, unimpressed lays
Before me this, a gift both fresh and strange.

Wisdom must pull Present to my side
And pull it closer still, unflinchingly!
Lest, love be lost on this too anxious bride,
Her groom's passion ended presently.

May Present, thus, be evermore unsealed
And bring my Life full-circle, when I yield.
