Summer Love

In sunshine's heat and july's temperament
Dwells not for long this blossom beautiful,
Abides in brightness with bewilderment -
Our light by light exposed so pitiful.

Through sun's lush gift and eyes all-seeing,
Myst'ries manifest sharp as surgeon's knife!
No clouds to shade these wand'ring beings
but rays of iron piercing secret life.

Pray, may these smaller hours of the night
Stand dark companions for our budding love,
And less-liked season's ever tumbling kite
The knight of things scarce' seen and yet enough.

Be what lies dark stand up for lovers
And what is lonely made our mothers.
